Bowlers in the Philipsburg area have been striking out for almost a year, since the Moshannon Valley Super Bowl closed in 2015.

But if you want to knock down some pins, you might be able to pick up a spare soon.

Late Thursday, Genna Ice Co. in Philipsburg took to Facebook with a quick note.

“It is with great pleasure that Genna Ice would like to officially announce that we have entered into agreement to purchase the former Moshannon Valley Super Bowl. ... We look forward to opening this beautiful facility back up to the community! More news to come soon!”

U.S. Bank National Association foreclosed on the Rush Township building previously owned by Andrew Coleman and James Burns in December 2014. It was scheduled for sheriff sale in February 2015 after being open since 2007.

“We still have to wait for some things that are up in the air,” manager Jakob Genna said Friday.

While the company, which has been providing ice throughout the area since 1978, is looking at a few tweaks to the menu, drink menu and other minor areas, it is not trying to make major changes.

“By and large, the operation is kind of ready to run as it is,” Genna said.

The bowling alley will run as a separate but related company to the ice operations, he said.

Genna said they hope to see the bowling alley reopen in early spring.
