Gary Thull sees a little bit of everything.
He told the Centre Daily Times in a Q&A last year that he once got a call from a local campground that needed fish and frogs removed from its swimming pool. That was where the campground’s owner’s family liked to fish.
Odd stories aside, Thull recently announced he will host a grand opening for a new retail store and showroom for Gary Thull Pools at 551 E. College Ave. in Pleasant Gap near Sunset West Restaurant. The grand opening will be held 3. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
It will be a chance for people to see what Thull, who has 35 years of experience in the pool industry, has to offer.
“Our retail store coming to fruition has been an answer to prayer,” Thull said.
The 3,750-square-foot store will feature pool parts, spas, spa parts, chemicals, pool accessories and pool toys.
The shop, called Gary Thull Pools Store and Showroom, will also enable customers to check out lines of Bullfrog spas, a Blue Hawaiian fiberglass pool and GraniFlex decking displays. They can also get their water tested on site.
“The opportunity came in the right location for us, and we’ve been able to grow to a point where this seemed like the right time to add this to our business,” Thull said.
Gary Thull Pools Store and Showroom will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday after its grand opening weekend.
Thull said Wednesday he has already opened a few residential pools.
“We did some today, and we have more lined up next week,” he said. “Pretty soon it’s going to be really busy.”
