Hall’s Market, located at 491 E. Sycamore Road in Show Shoe, is consolidating its True Value hardware store into its existing supermarket.
The market’s True Value store at 104 S. Fourth St. closed last week. Co-owner Troy Hall cited operation costs as the main reason for the move.
To compensate for the shift of inventory, Hall began construction about two weeks ago on a storage facility near the 19,500-square-foot market, which has been at the Sycamore Road location since 1991. Larger hardware items, such as pipes and lumber, will be stored there. The market is also working on a new sign out front highlighting the combined stores.
Hall’s goal is to have the facility and the entire move completed by the end of July.

“(Customers) like the one-stop shop,” he said. “We still have a lot of work to do.”
Despite shuttering the hardware store on Fourth Street, Hall noted the move carries benefits besides the attendant challenges. Getting employees trained on both the hardware and grocery fronts will coincide with integrating the additional inventory into the point-of-sale system. Otherwise, Hall said, business at the market will run as usual.
