Two Painting Broads, a Philipsburg art studio, plans to move to a larger space at 1 N. Front St. A ribbon cutting and open house is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 8.
Co-owners Corie Hartsock and Jody Gunter opened the studio last July at 126 N. Second St. in Philipsburg. Hartsock accounted the move to growth in the market. Extra space, she said, was needed for the classes and parties the studio hosts.
“We’ve always had a dream of having a bigger space,” Hartsock said. “We just didn’t think it was something we’d do so quickly.”
The studio is moving from a 500-square-foot location to a 3,000-square-foot space on Front Street.

The company began as a mobile studio in April 2015, hosting private parties on the road. Hartsock and Gunter, who met because their sons were both in Boy Scouts, sat down with their husbands, mapped out a business plan and three months later opened up their first studio.
Hartsock estimated the pair do about five mobile parties a month and are booking into November.
“Philipsburg likes to paint,” Hartsock said. “... It wasn’t always the plan to have a brick-and-mortar studio, but it just sort of fell in our lap and we ran with it. We’ve been really blessed ever since the beginning.”
