Bits of Business | Payless shifting location in mall

Payless ShoeSource in Nittany Mall will be relocating to a different space in the mall this summer.

Store management said that employees will be packing up the store May 24, and will be out May 28.

The new location might be open at the end of August, but that space has not yet been determined, a store manager said.

New market open in Bellefonte

On May 7, a new market known as a “home town grocery” opened at 206 W. High St., Bellefonte.

Belle Market will provide discount foods, bulk foods, a deli, frozen foods, produce and more.

Store hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Local vet clinic expands services

Metzger Animal Hospital is now a 24-hour emergency hospital with an emergency veterinarian on site every day of the year.

Fred Metzger said his office also decided to eliminate the extra emergency exam fee, “so an exam at 3 a.m. is now the same as one at 3 p.m.”

It also expanded its professional staff from six to 10 veterinarians earlier this year.

Metzger Animal Hospital is at 1044 Benner Pike, Benner Township, and employs 46 team members, including 10 veterinarians and 13 certified veterinary technicians.

Bellefonte Chamber

to hold luncheon

Bellefonte Intervalley Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Gamble Mill, 160 Dunlop St., Bellefonte.

The focus is on educating guests on different area organizations.

S&T Bank expands

to State College

An S&T Bank is slated to open a branch on the corner of Fraser Street and Beaver Avenue in downtown State College.

The company did not say when it would open.

The bank based out of Indiana, Pa., has locations in Allegheny, Armstrong, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Indiana, Jefferson, Washington and Westmoreland counties, as well as loan production offices in northeast and central Ohio.

“State College has had a lot of appeal to us for a number of years,” said Todd Brice, president and CEO. “We were just looking for the right opportunity and the right people to enter the market.”

The bank hired two people, David Richards as executive vice president and Steven Grim as senior vice president and commercial loan officer.
