Centre County adds 30 COVID-19 cases as pandemic total reaches 1,630, with 11 deaths
Centre County added 30 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, according to the state Department of Health, bringing the county’s total to 1,630 since March 20.
Of Centre County’s total cases, 1,572 are confirmed and 58 are probable. There have been 22,229 negative tests, and the county is seeing an incidence rate of 1,001.20 per 100,000 people.
One person is hospitalized in Centre County due to COVID-19, according to the state’s dashboard. There have been 11 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Centre County, according to the health department. Eight of those 11 were nursing home residents, per the data.
Pennsylvania added 760 new positives Friday, bringing the statewide total to 148,683. There were 21 new deaths reported, for a total of 7,934 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Pennsylvania.

The state does not provide specific numbers when there are fewer than five cases to protect patient privacy, and does not identify exactly where a case occurred in a ZIP code that spans multiple counties.
Of the Pennsylvanians who have tested positive to date, the age breakdown is as follows:
- Approximately 1% are ages 0-4;
- Nearly 2% are ages 5-12;
- Approximately 4% are ages 13-18;
- Approximately 12% are ages 19-24;
- Approximately 36% are ages 25-49;
- Nearly 22% are ages 50-64; and
- Approximately 22% are ages 65 or older.
“We know that congregation, especially in college and university settings, yields increased case counts. The mitigation efforts in place now are essential to flattening the curve and saving lives,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said in a statement. “Wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, and following the requirements set forth in the orders for bars and restaurants, gatherings and telework will help keep our case counts low.”
