Pennsylvania representative for the 81st Legislative District, Rich Irvin, successfully defended his seat Tuesday in his first bid for re-election.
Irvin soundly defeated Democratic challenger and retired U.S. Army Maj. Rick Rogers.
“I have the utmost respect for Rick,” Irvin said. “I appreciate his military service to our great country, and I appreciate that we’re able to keep the race clean.”
Irvin earned his seat by defeating Democrat Mike Fleck in the 2014 general election, and since then, he said, he has worked hard to create jobs for the people in his district.

“I am going to continue to work to bring together our job creators and educators,” Irvin said. “We need to work together to make sure we keep our businesses rather than see them go elsewhere.”
Irvin went on to thank his supporters in this election and the 2014 election.
“I want them all to know that I appreciate the support, and I am going to continue to try and bring people together,” Irvin said.
