Man transported by medical helicopter after crash

Charles Watson, 48, of Snow Shoe, was transported by medical helicopter Saturday to UPMC Altoona for treatment of injuries sustained in vehicle crash on West Sycamore Road in Snow Shoe Township.

According to state police at Rockview, Watson was traveling east on state Route 144 when his vehicle left the right lane and struck a utility pole, overturning once and landing wheels-down on top of down wires.

Watson was ejected through the windshield and came to a rest facedown in the eastbound lane of travel, approximately 3 yards from the vehicle, police say.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash. The severity of Watson’s injuries is unknown.
