Official write-in results not expected for 2 weeks

Write-in votes could affect the general election in November, but the certified results won’t be available until June 8 at the earliest, according to the Centre County elections office. It could even be as late as June 13.

Two races are of particular interest in terms of write-in votes: district attorney and State College mayor.

In the May 16 primary election, there were 4,568 write-in votes for DA and 312 for State College mayor on the Republican ballot.

For DA, that could mean that Democratic nominee Bernie Cantorna could face incumbent Stacy Parks Miller in the fall or that he’ll be the nominee on both tickets, depending on the results of the write-in votes.
