Drug take-back box added to Rockview barracks

An additional drug take-back box is joining the seven existing boxes in Centre County.

State police announced Tuesday that, “as part of the ongoing effort to curb the opioid epidemic in Pennsylvania,” take-back boxes would be installed in 65 state police stations across the commonwealth. The hope, according to the news release, is to create a safe method for the disposal of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medication.

“PSP stations provide highly visible, well-known locations for prescription drug take-back boxes with lobbies that are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” state police Commissioner Tyree Blocker said in the release.

The county’s newest box will be placed in the lobby of the Rockview station at 745 S. Eagle Valley Road across from Bald Eagle Area High School, police said.

Additional drug take-back box location in Centre County include the Centre County government building, Centre County sheriff’s office, and Bellefonte, Ferguson Township, Patton Township, State College and Penn State police stations. An additional box is available at the Decatur Township police station in Osceola Mills, Clearfield County.
