1-vehicle crash takes out guide rail, 3 utility poles, road sign

Pennsylvania State Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 7:35 a.m. Saturday in Juniata County.

Police said James Parrill, 77, of Stephens City, Va., was traveling south on state Route 75 in Turbett Township when a deer ran onto the road. Parrill reportedly swerved his Kenworth W900 and traveled off the southeastern side of the roadway, striking a guide rail, three utility poles and a road sign. The vehicle continued on the embankment until it overturned and landed near a cornfield.

Parrill was wearing his seat belt and was not injured, according to police. He was cited for driving on roadways lined for traffic.

Police were assisted at the scene by Port Royal EMS and fire department and Mayes Trucking and Towing.
