A local church has placed a temporary slogan on its new location — from feeding stomachs to feeding souls.

Unity Church of Jesus Christ will own the Celebration Hall property at 2280 Commercial Blvd. in early January, according to an announcement. The church will relocate from 140 N. Gill St. in State College, where the church has operated for 32 years.

The building was listed in early 2017 for less than $3 million by Skip Moerschbacher. Details on the acquisition have not been released, and county records show the deal has not been finalized. Hoag’s Catering will continue to operate, but from a new, undisclosed location.

“This year you will continue to see the favorite elements of UCJC, including small group fellowship, uplifting worship, community outreach and weekly church services practiced in the African-American tradition,” the church said in a statement. “Our vision is to continue a commitment to embracing God, embracing people and embracing service.”

The church will also introduce changes such as adding a full-time youth minister to its staff and developing a transportation system for students in need of rides from the borough.

Keva Tranzor, the new staff member, “is dedicated to engaging middle and high school students in weekly fun fellowship opportunities and personal spiritual development.”
