It can be difficult to predict snow days, but if meteorologists are right the next one might be easy to call.

The next winter storm to hit the Midwest, mid-Atlantic and northeast will likely drop most of its snow in northern and central Pennsylvania, according to AccuWeather, which called for up to a foot of snow on Wednesday, especially to the north of Interstate 80.

Forecasts for State College are less daunting. The Weather Channel has predicted the Centre Region and surrounding communities most likely get 5 to 8 inches of snow, and AccuWeather has projected at least 3 to 6 inches of snow. The National Weather Service said the area will get at least 4 inches of snow along with half an inch of rain that will freeze on roads.

The storm will begin Monday in the western United States and move from Montana and Colorado to Chicago, according to TWC. It will reach western Pennsylvania on Tuesday and hit central Pennsylvania by about 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The winter storm will likely disrupt all types of travel, and the combination of freezing rain and heavy snow might cause tree damage and power outages, according to AccuWeather.

The storm will add the the 4 inches of snow that the region received Sunday.
