Crews respond to multi-alarm fire in Potter Township

Centre and Mifflin county fire crews responded to the scene of a fully-involved structure fire in Spring Mills on Monday evening.

Crews were dispatched at 9:16 p.m. to 3366 Penns Valley Pike, a commercial building previously occupied by E & L Supplies, a pet supply store. The sign outside the building now reads Diamond Custom Kitchens.

The glow from the fire was reportedly visible to firefighters from more than a mile away, according to dispatch reports.

Gregg Township, Millheim, Miles Township, Boalsburg, Undine, Pleasant Gap, Alpha and Milroy fire companies all responded to help Centre Hall extinguish the blaze. Multiple tankers drove back and forth between the the scene of the fire and the Centre Hall Sheetz throughout the night, refilling with more water.

The blaze was extinguished and the scene cleared by 2 a.m., according to Centre Hall Fire Company.

State Route 45 was closed eastbound at Decker Road and westbound at Weaver Road, where tankers were also reportedly refilling, as fire crews battled the blaze.

There has been no word yet on whether any injuries occurred.
