A winter weather advisory has been extended for Centre County. How much snow will we get?
Winter weather that has been moving east across the country since Thanksgiving hit central Pennsylvania Sunday, with an advisory in effect through Monday afternoon.
Originally issued through Sunday evening, the National Weather Service extended the winter weather advisory to 1 p.m. Monday for Centre County. A mix of precipitation — rain, sleet and freezing rain — led to crashes Sunday morning and the closure of Schlow Centre Region Library.
The mixed precipitation is expected to gradually transition to snow Sunday night, according to the NWS, with snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches possible.
In a Saturday news release, Gov. Tom Wolf alerted all Pennsylvanians and travelers to the state to be prepared for potentially significant travel impacts.
“Please heed the advice of weather forecasters and emergency professionals and consider altering travel plans if necessary,” he stated in the release.
Through Tuesday morning, much of the state will see snowfall.
“With a storm like this, a difference of just a few degrees can quickly change weather and road conditions,” Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Director Randy Padfield said in the release.
