Centre County schools issue 2-hour delays Tuesday due to icy conditions

Some Centre County students have their first delay of the season as winter weather hits the area.

State College Area, Bellefonte Area, Penns Valley Area and Philipsburg-Osceola school districts will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday.

After initially calling for a two-hour delay, Bald Eagle Area School District announced it will close for the day.

Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology and Our Lady of Victory Catholic School also have a two-hour delay.

The National Weather Service on Monday issued a winter weather advisory through 11 a.m. Tuesday for all of Centre County, with snow, sleet and freezing rain forecast.

Temperatures are expected to rise to about 35 degrees Tuesday afternoon.

Harris Township declared a snow emergency, reminding residents that all vehicles must be removed from municipal streets from midnight Tuesday until the snow has been cleared.
