Hazardous weather is in the forecast for Centre County. Here’s what drivers can expect
Snow is in this week’s forecast, bringing with it slick and hazardous road conditions for Centre County on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to a special statement issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday, central Pennsylvania residents should expect heavy snowfall to begin around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and continue into the evening.
“Fast moving bands of heavy snow will be over portions of Central Pennsylvania this afternoon,” reads the NWS statement. “Most of the heavier snow will be from near Interstate 80 southward to the Maryland border and west of Lock Haven, Newport line.”
Temperatures are expected to remain at or just above freezing. Beginning Tuesday afternoon until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, snow accumulation could amount to one inch and result in slick roadways and slower travel into the evening, according to AccuWeather.
The NWS said local snowfall and squalls are possible on Wednesday morning and afternoon with wind gusts exceeding 40 mph.
Drivers are asked to be aware of roadway conditions and slow down when traveling Tuesday and Wednesday.
All after-school activities at Bald Eagle Area School District have been canceled.
