With a winter weather advisory in effect, here’s what’s happening in Centre County
Snow started falling in Centre County Saturday morning and it’s expected to continue throughout the day, creating messy road conditions.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory through 7 p.m. Saturday for areas of central Pennsylvania, including Centre County. In addition to total snow accumulations of 3-6 inches, NWS also expects “ice accumulations of a light glaze” and some sleet and freezing rain Saturday afternoon. AccuWeather predicts 1-3 inches of snow.
Drivers are advised to plan for slippery road conditions, and some people may need to change their weekend plans.
- All State College Area School District buildings will be closed Saturday, with scheduled district and non-district activities postponed or canceled.
- Schlow Centre Region Library will close at 1 p.m. Saturday.
- The Nature’s Pantry farmers market was canceled.
- The Palmer Museum of Art is closed.
- Discovery Space of Central Pennsylvania is closed.
- Centre County PAWS is closed.
- The Pierogi and Kielbasa dinner at St. John’s Episcopal Church Bellefonte has been rescheduled to next week.
- MLK: A Musical Remembrance concert at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Centre County will be rescheduled for a later date.
Harris Township declared a snow emergency effective noon Saturday. All vehicles must be removed from municipal streets and can be reparked after the snowfall stops or the roads are cleared. College Township is also under a snow emergency.
