1 dead after single-vehicle crash in Rush Township, coroner says
A Lanse woman was found dead Tuesday after a single-vehicle crash in Rush Township, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said in a news release.
A vehicle driven by Laurie J. Welker, 58, struck a tree and slid down a steep embankment on Six Mile Run Road mid- to late-Tuesday morning, Sayers said in the Wednesday evening release. There were no witnesses to the crash, which was discovered by two fishermen who were driving on the road shortly after noon.
Sayers pronounced Welker dead at the scene. Following an autopsy, Sayers said she died as a result of chest trauma and ruled the death accidental.
Pennsylvania State Police at Rockview assisted in the investigation. Philipsburg, Winburne and Morris Township fire companies were also on the scene, along with Moshannon Valley EMS.
The coroner also reported Wednesday that Hwan So Sung, 55, of State College, was found deceased in his car along the 2400 block of Marengo Road in Halfmoon Township late Tuesday morning. He died as a result of a stroke, Sayers said.
State Police at Rockview also assisted in the investigation, and Port Matilda Fire Company and EMS were on the scene.
