Centre County farm offers virtual and drive-thru apple blossom tours. Here’s what to know

Centre County residents can still enjoy springtime staples at Way Fruit Farm — virtually or from their car.

This week, the Port Matilda fruit farm launched a socially-distanced blossom tour, so community members can see the blooms while staying safe and healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. People are invited to walk or drive-thru the farm during business hours, following a map provided by the owners.

“Being outside is good medicine, if you will, and this time of year is especially magical in the orchards,” Way Fruit Farm wrote on social media. “We hope these blossom days are a sweet distraction from the current times and a reminder of the bounty and better times ahead.”

During the week, Way Fruit Farm — located at 2355 Halfmoon Valley Road — is open from 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and until 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Walkers are invited to park in the farm’s main lot and walk across the road to the closest orchard. Social distance guidelines must be followed.

From the parking lot, drivers are asked to travel onto Halfmoon Valley Road, turn right onto Orchard Road and then right on Beckwith Road to follow the tour.

For those unable to tour the blossoms in-person, a virtual tour is available on the farm’s Facebook.

Apple blossom packs and other products may be pre-ordered online.
