Events in Centre County and at Penn State will honor, celebrate veterans
Veterans Day is Thursday, with ceremonies planned in Bellefonte and at Penn State to honor those who served in the United States Armed Forces.
And in the days and weeks ahead, more events are planned to recognize and thank veterans, including a series of military appreciation games at Penn State. Here’s a look at what’s planned:
Veterans Day ceremony at Old Main: 11:10 a.m.-noon Thursday in front of Old Main on Penn State’s campus. The event will be livestreamed at www.watch.psu.edu/MAW.
Veterans Day service: 11 a.m. Thursday at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
Penn State Men’s Hockey Military Appreciation game: 8:30-10 p.m. Thursday at Pegula Ice Arena, University Park.
Military Appreciation Open Streets Event: 3-5 p.m. Sunday in downtown State College.
Student Veteran Panel: 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Bank of America Career Services Center, Room 130A, University Park, and livestreamed at www.watch.psu.edu/MAW.
Military Appreciation Women’s Basketball Game: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Bryce Jordan Center, University Park.
Military Appreciation Men’s Basketball Game: 7 p.m. Nov. 18. Bryce Jordan Center, University Park.
Military Appreciation Tailgate: 8:30 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Bryce Jordan Center, University Park. The free event will feature food, entertainment, a resource fair and more for military members, veterans and their families.
Military Appreciation Football Game: noon Nov. 20 at Beaver Stadium.
Greenlight a Vet Campaign: visit the Liberty Hills community in Boalsburg this week to see homes displaying a green light on their porch, garage or window to honor and recognize veterans. There are 65 veterans in the community, according to a press release, and a flag pennant will be placed on those homes to recognize them.
