Openings, closings and other Centre County business changes from March you may have missed

March brought news of several business openings and closings in Centre County. Here’s a look:

New spots to check out

  • A new Wendy’s is on the way to State College. The fast-food restaurant will replace the former Burger King at 521 University Drive. It will be the county’s third Wendy’s and is expected to open in May.
  • Streamside Family Restaurant opened this month in the former location of Pizza Heaven at 137 W. Streamside Place in Gregg Township. The restaurant serves pizza, sandwiches, salads and strombolis.

  • Aldi opened its second Centre County store at the former Krentzman Supply site at 780 Benner Pike in College Township. The county’s first Aldi opened in October in Patton Township.

Closing its doors

Carvers Deli & Barbecue, 1633 N. Atherton St., closed after more than a decade in business.

A new look

Medical marijuana dispensary Nature’s Medicines is being rebranded by its new owner. Ayr Wellness bought the dispensary at 2105 N. Atherton St. in October and is renaming it Ayr Wellness State College.
