Whether you’re into savory bites like omelettes and bacon or you’ve got a sweet spot for french toast and waffles, there are Easter brunch options for you in State College.

To help round your choices, the Centre Daily Times published a survey asking readers to let us know where to find the best Easter brunch in State College and Centre County. Here’s where readers said to dine this Sunday.

War of the Waffles

Centre County is home to a variety of waffle-inspired cafes, and everyone’s got their favorite. Here are the features of each waffle restaurant.

The Waffle Shop in State College and Bellefonte

The Waffle Shop can be found in downtown State College, and its brunch offerings include strawberry waffles, chocolate chip pancakes, omelettes and eggs benedict. You can get made-to-order entrees, and you’re likely to bump into a Penn State student (or a few) here.

Bellefonte’s waffle rendition is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and offers egg platters, omelettes, pancake platters and waffles.

The Original Waffle Shop

The Original Waffle Shop has locations at 1610 W College Ave. and 1229 N Atherton St., both in State College. Waffle options include strawberry, cinnamon apple, pecan, blueberry, belgian with corned beef hash and more. If you’re looking to mix it up, check out their pancakes and platters.

Both locations are open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Hublersburg Inn

Easter brunch items are available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hublersburg Inn. Try classic eggs benedict, crab cake benedict, salmon benedict, brunch totchos or french toast if you’re in a festive mood. The regular salads and entrees, including herb roasted turkey and portabella ravioli, are available all day.

The Penn Stater

Stop by The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for a brunch buffet. There are plenty of traditional breakfast options, including a belgium waffles station, omelettes made to order, fresh fruit, coffee and tea. One mimosa or glass of champagne is offered to each guest over 21 years old.

If you prefer a more lunch-like brunch, try The Penn Stater’s chef-carved top round of beef, salad bar, international cheeses, seafood bar, salmon and dessert bar. The buffet is $22.50 per person.

Future best brunch spots

These reader favorites aren’t available this Sunday, but we’ve included them so you can find new favorites in the future. Think your mom would like these dishes? Check out these restaurants for Mother’s Day.

The Tavern: The Tavern’s fully booked this Easter, and it’s open 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.

Try The Tavern’s coconut chicken, colossal shrimp cocktail, steak salad, tuscan shrimp and grits or Japanese-style chili burger. The restaurant’s been in downtown State College since 1948, and reservations can be made online.

Gigi’s Southern Table: Enjoy Gigi’s farm-to-table brunch treats from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It’s no wonder the place books quickly, with options like bananas foster french toast, cajun benedict, beignets and low country strudel.
