State police at Rockview released the report for the fatal Interstate 80 crash that killed three people at the end of June.

Three members of the Feick family — Thomas Feick, 48, his wife Catherine Feick, 49, and their son, 18-year-old Derek Feick, of Porter County, Indiana, died after two related crashes just after midnight on June 20. The crashes happened near Milesburg on I-80.

The Kia Soul carrying the three members of the Feick family crossed the yellow dashed line and struck a tractor-trailer, causing both vehicles to strike the guide rail on the right side of the road, according to the crash report. The Kia “ricocheted” off the guide rail and stopped in the right lane on its side, while the tractor-trailer overturned down the embankment.

The 60-year-old driver of the trailer-trailer was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center with minor injuries.

A second crash, involving another tractor-trailer and the Kia Soul, resulted in the deaths of all three members of the Feick family.

An intervening bystander who was walking on foot to approach the first crash scene was struck by the passenger car due to the force of collision when it was struck by the tractor-trailer, police wrote in a release last month. The pedestrian was transported to UPMC Altoona with serious injuries.

The Feick’s dog, which had reportedly been in the vehicle and was not found at the scene, has not been located.
