Dense fog causes multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 99 in Centre County, police say
A crash involving multiple cars and trucks shut down a local stretch of Interstate 99 (northbound) for more than an hour Wednesday — but no serious injuries were reported, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
The roadway was reopened by early Wednesday afternoon.
The crash in Benner Township occurred shortly before 10:15 a.m. due to a dense fog that “caused little to no visibility,” police wrote in a public report. Multiple vehicles struck one another around mile marker 78, which is between the exits for Shiloh Road and Harrison Road within Centre County.
Some minor injuries were reported, police said. But details and specifics were not made known.
Police were assisted on scene by S&R Towing, Rees Towing, Grays, Halfmoon Valley Towing, Logan Fire Company, Undine Fire Company, Alpha Fire Company, Bellefonte EMS and Centre Life Link.
