A bridge on U.S. Route 322 — one that spans state Route 45 in Harris Township — will undergo concrete repairs Monday while a one-day detour will be in effect for eastbound traffic, according to a news release issued by PennDOT.

The bridge is located about 3 miles southeast of State College, near Boalsburg. Those traveling eastbound on the bridge Monday will be directed to take a detour at the Old Fort exit by following Route 45 and Boal Avenue back to Route 322. Flaggers will be on-hand at the bottom of the off-ramp.

Westbound traffic heading to State College can remain on Route 322 and will not need to take a detour, but PennDOT advised motorists “to exercise caution in all work zones, to obey posted work zone signage and speed limits, and always buckle up.

The bridgework is expected to last just one day, but that brief timeline could change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances (e.g. equipment breakdown). The construction is expected to “improve ride quality over the bridge and extend its service life,” according to PennDOT.

For more information, PennDOT encourages residents to check conditions on that roadway and more than 40,000 others by visiting 511PA.com or following @511PAStateColl on X.
