A large crowd — one that organizers estimated at more than 3,000 people — gathered Saturday afternoon at Penn State’s Old Main lawn before marching through downtown State College to protest President Donald Trump’s administration.
The demonstrations, referred to as “No Kings” protests, were created to rail against what organizers described as President Donald Trump’s authoritarian efforts to undermine democracy during his second term, in addition to opposing health care funding cuts and the recent government shutdown.
The local rally was one of more than 2,500 scheduled around the country Saturday. Other nearby demonstrations took place in Altoona, Clearfield and Lock Haven.
