About food safety inspections
Under Pennsylvania law, eating and drinking establishments are inspected at least once per year. Some schools, including the State College Area School District, receive biannual inspections.

She also observed mechanical washing equipment in the kitchen not being operated “according to the manufacturer’s data plate,” according to the report.
Additionally, the person in charge at Rutter’s at the time of the inspection “did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility,” Tyler wrote.
A follow-up inspection on Feb. 23 cleared Rutter’s and brought its convenience store back to compliance.
