Pedestrian injured, cited in State College
A Gibsonia man was taken to the hospital Friday after being struck by a vehicle in State College.
According to police, when they responded to the call at about 11:40 p.m., Jack Sarver, 28, was found lying in the middle of the road at the intersection of South Atherton Street and West Fairmount Avenue. His speech was slurred and there was a “strong odor” of alcohol on him.
Ryan Johnson, 21, of State College, reported he had been traveling north on South Atherton when he saw Sarver at the corner of the intersection, police said. Sarver abruptly ran in front of his vehicle and was hit. A witness confirmed the account.
Sarver admitted to drinking alcohol, police said, but “was confused and did not seem to realize he had been struck by a vehicle.” He was cited and taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center.
