Los Angeles man killed in Rush Township crash
A Los Angeles man was killed in a crash shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 80 in Rush Township.
Federico Montoya, 44, was driving a 2012 Freightliner west at mile marker 138.4 when, “for unknown reasons,” according to state police at Rockview, his vehicle left the road, struck the guide rail and rolled down an embankment.
Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers pronounced Montoya dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
After the crash, the road was closed between exits 147 and 133. One lane remained closed late Tuesday.
Police were assisted at the scene by Grassflat Fire Company, Winburne Fire Company, Centre County EMA, Morris Township Fire Department, Eagle Towing, Rees’ Towing, Snow Shoe EMS and the state Department of Transportation.
