A man was killed in a crash between a horse and buggy and a vehicle Friday on Route 192 in Miles Township.
According to a police report, Samuel Speicher, of Milheim, was stopped with his horse and buggy and waiting to turn left onto Old Pike Road at about 12:30 p.m. when the horse reared up and pulled the buggy into the oncoming lane, directly into the path of a Jeep Cherokee.
The driver of the Jeep, Paul Robson, of Rebersburg, could not avoid striking the buggy, according to the report, causing the buggy and Speicher to be thrown 30 feet to the side of the road.
Speicher was transported by helicopter to the Geisinger Trauma Center in Danville, where he died as a result of his injuries.
