PSU students report attempted robbery
Two Penn State students told police that they were nearly robbed at gunpoint Saturday morning, according to a university release.
The attempted robbery, according to Penn State police, occurred between 4 and 5 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Bigler and Pollock roads. The students told police they were near the intersection when a silver sedan stopped beside them and a black man in the front passenger seat pointed a silver handgun at them. The students could not give more of a description of the man.
The vehicle then traveled north on Bigler Road.
“It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the university community,” police said in the release.
Police advised students and visitors to use the buddy system, take advantage of bus services, have a fully charged cellphone before going out and avoid deserted areas.
Police ask anyone with information to call 863-1111.
