Travelers along West Branch Road may have noticed a commotion of police cars at about 4 p.m. this afternoon.
A family of bears was responsible for the disturbance, as police and the state Game Commission were called in to round up the animals.
Barbara Peters, of Lemont, said she had seen the bears hanging around for a few days. On Sunday night, she noticed one of them was injured and needed assistance.
Peters said the Game Commission searched for the bears, a mother and her three 1-year-old cubs, on Monday, but they could not be found.

“We just knew they were hanging around,” she said. The bears reappeared Thursday in a neighbor’s yard.
State College police said the Game Commission handled the bears’ capture.
Peters said the bears were tranquilized and taken to a safe place.
