At about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, a truck driven by Edward Ray Smith, 38, of Chicago, was driving west on Interstate 80 and exiting at mile marker 161 in Marion Township when his vehicle rolled over, causing a partial closure of Jacksonville Road, north of the on- and off-ramps.
According to state police at Rockview, the crash occurred when the truck, hauling a 53-foot trailer filled with dog food, was exiting the ramp at a high rate of speed on the wet roadway and slid through the intersection. The vehicle struck an embankment and rolled over on the driver’s side.
Police say the driver was not injured.
Police were assisted at the scene by Howard Fire Company, Bellefonte Emergency Medical Services, PennDOT and Eagle Towing.
