A Howard man was fatally injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Walker Township.
At about 3:30 p.m., Dale Baranak, 69, was stopped at the intersection of state Routes 550 and 64. He was waiting to turn left onto Route 64 heading north. As a vehicle driven by Hope Confer-Peters, 39, of Bellefonte, approached the intersection heading south on Route 64, Baranak pulled out from the stop sign, police said. Confer-Peters’ vehicle struck Baranak’s vehicle on the driver’s side.
Baranak and his front-seat passenger had to be removed from the vehicle. Both drivers and the passenger were taken by ambulance to Mount Nittany Medical Center. Baranak was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.
The road was closed for about 90 minutes. Pleasant Gap EMS, Walker Township Fire Department, Bellefonte EMS, Centre LifeLink EMS, Extreme Custom Cycle Towing and fire police assisted state police at Rockview at the scene.
