Coroner pronounces woman dead at crash scene

A woman died Sunday when her ATV crashed and rolled over, according to a release by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers.

Coleen Dixon, 45, of Munson, was pronounced dead by Sayers at the scene.

Dixon was traveling Sunday morning on the 3100 block of Casanova Road in Rush Township when the crash occurred, according to the coroner’s office.

The crash was reported to authorities at about 4 a.m. Sunday, police said, when a passing motorist noticed the scene. According to police, Dixon lost control of a 2014 Polaris Sportsman 400, went off the roadway and struck an embankment. She was ejected as the ATV rolled and came to a rest on its side.

State police at Philipsburg are investigating the crash and said in a release that alcohol may have been a factor and Dixon was not wearing a helmet. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Police ask anyone with information about the crash to contact the investigating officer, state Trooper Prestyn Showers. He can be contacted at 342-3370.
