1 flown to hospital after Thursday night ATV crash in Ferguson Township

Two people were treated for serious injuries Thursday night after an ATV crash in Ferguson Township, the township police chief said Friday.

Officers responded about 11:10 p.m. Thursday to Marengo and West Gatesburg roads, where an ATV driven by a 34-year-old Huntingdon County man crashed into a telephone pole and rolled over, police Chief Chris Albright said.

The driver was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Altoona, while a passenger was transported by ambulance to the Blair County hospital. The driver was treated for multiple facial fractures, a fractured arm and femur, and internal injuries, Albright said.

Both were in stable condition as of about 10:30 a.m. Friday, Albright said. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation.

Marengo Road was closed for about two hours.
