Centre County coroner releases cause of death for truck driver who crashed on U.S. 322

A truck driver who crashed in the Potters Mills Gap construction project in February did not die from injuries from the crash, the Centre County coroner wrote Tuesday in a statement.

Samuel Bellaman, 61, of Lebanon County, was hauling metal when he crashed into a guardrail in the 3000 block of General Potter Highway/U.S. Route 322 in Potter Township. The crash backed up traffic on the Seven Mountains for severl hours.

Bellaman failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and overturned down an embankment, state police at Rockview said. He died at the scene.

Bellaman died of “a cardiac event,” county Coroner Scott Sayers wrote. Bellaman’s death was ruled natural.
