State College cyclist hit by vehicle, being treated for life-threatening injuries, police said

A State College cyclist is being treated for life-threatening injuries after he was hit Sunday by a motorist in Ferguson Township, the township’s police chief said.

The 85-year-old man was hit about 4 p.m. along the 400 block of Blue Course Drive, Ferguson Township police Chief Chris Albright said. The cyclist was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment.

The driver, a 51-year-old State College woman, was uninjured.

A preliminary investigation found the cyclist “made a quick lane change, crossing into the path of the car,” Albright said. Officers have not yet spoke with the cyclist, who was unable to communicate, Albright said.

The investigation is ongoing. Those who witnessed or have information about the crash are urged to call 800-479-0050.
