A new indoor market for local vendors just opened in Centre County, with room to grow
Corinna Anskis always wanted to open an indoor market, so when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and local businesses were affected, she used the extra time to turn her daydream into a reality.
Titan Market opened at 9 a.m. Friday in Titan Energy Park, 2022 Axemann Road in Bellefonte. Located in the warehouse in front of Axemann Brewery, the market will consist of local food, craft and artisan vendors until 6 p.m. every Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday all year.
“I work closely with a lot of local businesses,” Anskis, said. “This pandemic has affected them and I know how much they’re struggling. My goal with this market is to provide a venue for local businesses, farmers, crafters and artisans to all come together and offer a variety of goods and services.”
With 10,000 square feet to work with, Anskis said preparing the space has been “a learning process,” but she was inspired by a farmers market in Lewisburg.
She hopes community members will get into the habit of coming to the market every week to support local vendors.
So far, farmers, meat and dairy vendors, crafters and bakers are signed up to participate in the market. Anskis plans to open a gift shop in the space, and her daughter is organizing a candy shop. The space can accommodate weekly and permanent event spaces for the market.
“We welcome all types of vendors,” Anskis said.
In addition to the market, Anskis has a list of events lined up for this fall, winter and spring — including a child safety day, trick-or-treat, a holiday craft show and an outdoor sportsman’s show.
“Thankfully, once we grow out of the space, we can continue to add,” Anskis said.
