Police: Man injured after unintentional discharge of firearm in Patton Township

A State College man who inadvertently shot himself in leg Sunday was treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, Patton Township police’s top officer said.

The man — whose age was not released — shot himself about 12:55 p.m. Sunday along the 300 block of Colonnade Boulevard, Patton Township police Chief Tyler Jolley said Monday.

The man “accidentally discharged the firearm while manipulating it” in his vehicle, Jolley wrote in a press release. He declined to release additional information, but added there was “no criminal aspect.”

Centre LifeLink EMS transported the man to Mount Nittany Medical Center.
