Centre County schools issue delays due to snowy road conditions after winter storm
Centre County schools issued a 2-hour delay on Friday morning due to snowy road conditions.
Snow began to fall on Thursday evening and continued overnight, with 1-3 inches of accumulation across the county, according to the National Weather Service State College. A winter weather advisory was in effect through 4 a.m. Friday.
State College, Bellefonte, Bald Eagle, Penns Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola area schools districts all issued 2-hour delays due to snowy road conditions.
On Thursday night, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel and put temporary speed reductions in place on Interstate 99 in Centre County and on Interstate 80 from Clarion to Clinton County. That was lifted early Friday morning.
