Investigation underway after reported bank robbery in Ferguson Township

Ferguson Township police opened an investigation Wednesday after a reported armed bank robbery, the department wrote in a Facebook post.

The alleged robbery was reported about 3:50 p.m. at PNC Bank, 1408 N. Atherton St. All employees were unharmed, police wrote. The man fled with an undisclosed amount of money, Ferguson Township police Sgt. Ryan Hendrick said.

Officers are searching for an about 6-foot white man who they initially reported was carrying a handgun. He was wearing a red hat, green neck gaiter and khaki pants during the reported robbery.

The suspect fled the area on a black mountain bike heading south toward downtown, police wrote in a Facebook post at about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

In the updated Facebook post, police wrote that the suspect presented a note and demanded cash from bank staff. No weapon was displayed, they said.
