Centre County emergency crews quickly control second-alarm fire in Patton Township
Alpha and Boalsburg fire companies were called Tuesday to a second-alarm building fire in Patton Township.
Crews responded to the 1000 block of Fox Hill Road at about 11:40 a.m. for a report of a house full of smoke. The fire was under control within about half an hour, according to dispatch reports. The extent of damage to the house was not immediately clear.
Dennis Harris, Alpha Fire Company assistant chief, said there was fire damage to one upstairs room and smoke damage to the rest of the home.
No one was home at the time of the fire and smoke was noticed by a tree trimming service the homeowners had hired. Harris said the homeowner was grateful that the workmen noticed the fire early on and alerted the fire department.
Fox Hill Road was closed briefly and then reopened to single-lane traffic.
The cause of the fire will be determined by the fire marshal.
