1 dead, two others injured after rush-hour crash in Centre County, state police say

A Mingoville woman died Tuesday during a rush-hour crash in Walker Township, state police at Rockview wrote in a crash report.

Anjelica Miele, 28, was killed in the crash, police wrote. Ward Cole, 85, was driving a 2017 Honda SXS700 M2D that struck Miele’s 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday along state Route 64, police wrote.

Cole drove the all-terrain vehicle into the path of Miele’s SUV, police wrote. Both vehicles overturned.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers wrote in a statement. Police are investigating.

Miele’s passenger — Anna Case, 26, of Mingoville — and Cole, of Bellefonte, were treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center for minor injures, police wrote.

Walker Township Fire Company, Pleasant Gap Fire Company, Bellefonte EMS, Centre LifeLink EMS, Bellefonte Fire Police and Rich’s Amoco also responded.

There were seven fatal crashes between 2011 and 2020 in Walker Township, according to state Department of Transportation data. That was tied for the fifth most among municipalities in Centre County.

Two fatal crashes involving ATVs were reported during that same period in Centre County. Both were in Rush Township.
