Skateboarder flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries after crash with driver, police say
A skateboarder was flown to a hospital Wednesday for treatment of life-threatening injuries after a crash with the driver of a Subaru Outback shortly after sunrise, the Ferguson Township police chief wrote in an email.
The 41-year-old State College man was riding about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday when he crashed into the driver who was heading eastbound along South Foxpointe Drive near the intersection with Autumnwood Drive, Chief Chris Albright wrote.
The department’s preliminary investigation found the skateboarder did not stop for the posted stop sign and “crossed in front of the vehicle,” Albright wrote. The investigation is ongoing.
He was flown by Geisinger LifeFlight to UPMC Altoona. The driver was not injured, police wrote.
Patton Township and State College police, the Alpha Fire Company and Centre LifeLink EMS assisted.
