Power restored in Patton Township after hourslong outage affected Atherton traffic lights

A large power outage affected hundreds of people in the Patton Township area Tuesday evening.

According to West Penn Power, 1,799 Patton Township customers were affected by the outage at about 5 p.m. Most of those were near the Gray’s Woods area, with other outages near Park Forest Village and Homestead Park.

Power was fully restored by 9 p.m. Tuesday. The cause of the outage was not immediately clear.

Power and traffic lights were out from around Valley Vista Drive to Woodycrest Street on North Atherton Street, according to the Centre County 911 Facebook page. The Centre Region Emergency Alerts Twitter page encouraged people to avoid driving on it.
