1 person killed in crash involving multiple tractor-trailers on I-80 in Centre County
One person was killed after a crash that involved three tractor-trailers early Friday morning on Interstate 80 near Snow Shoe.
Two people were injured and one person was killed in the crash that closed a section of I-80 eastbound for about five hours on Friday, according to a Facebook post from the Snow Shoe Volunteer Fire Company. The fire company was dispatched to mile marker 145, just before the rest area entrance, at about 5:30 a.m.
Life Flight was called in but declined due to poor weather conditions, the fire company wrote. At least one person was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Galdino Negreros, 46, Wethersfield, Connecticut, died as a result of multiple blunt trauma, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers wrote in a press release on Friday evening.
Oil and antifreeze leaked onto the highway but was away from any water sources, according to the fire company.
Bellefonte EMS, Moshannon Valley EMS, the Pennsylvania State Department of Transportation and state police also responded to the crash.
All lanes were closed between Exit 133 and Exit 147 at about 6:15 a.m. and reopened just before 11 a.m., PennDOT posted on Twitter.
