Helping hands: Centre County’s Mental Health Community Committee hosts logo design contest
Centre County’s Mental Health Community Committee (MHCC) is inviting Centre County residents to enter their logo design contest to help spread the word about MHCCCentre.com, a free mental health resource.
MHCC was founded in 2013 in response to a survey that identified mental health as one of the most pressing health issues in Centre County. Today, most of the MHCC’s efforts are focused on maintaining and growing their website, MHCCCentre.com, which includes a directory of mental health and wellness services available in Centre County, answers to frequently asked questions about mental health, links to crisis resources and more.
The committee’s director, Nicki Tice, says the committee’s goal is “to make sure that everyone is able to find the services available to them when they need them. Our website is a great resource for anyone struggling with mental health, looking for help for their loved ones, or just trying to educate themselves and help reduce stigma.”
After spending the past year updating and expanding the MHCC website, the Mental Health Community Committee is now inviting community members to get involved by entering a logo design contest.
All Centre County residents are eligible to enter through March 22 by sending hand-drawn or digitally designed logos to MHCCCentreCounty@gmail.com. One winner will be chosen by the committee, and will receive a $100 prize. Honorable mention winners will be chosen as well, and will receive prizes donated by Discovery Space, Smith + Front and Tait Farm Foods. Anyone interested in participating in the contest can find the full rules as well as the registration form at MHCCCentre.com/Contest.
In addition to winning a prize, Tice says the contest winner will help promote MHCC and improve the accessibility of mental health resources in Centre County.
“We have big plans for 2023,” Tice said. “After having to put a hold on some of our ideas due to COVID, we’re back to work and want to make sure that as many people as possible know about our website, so that if someone’s struggling, they always know there’s somewhere they can turn to get their questions answered and find help.”
The new MHCC logo will be used to spread the word about MHCC on flyers, postcards, magnets and other promotional materials.
The committee encourages people of all ages, abilities, and skill levels to enter the contest.
“We really just want to involve as many people as possible, to help us paint a picture of what mental health means to us as a community,” Tice said.
