Spring Township road closed for ‘extended period of time’ after farm vehicle crash, police say

A local road was closed Thursday after a farm vehicle sheared off a utility pole in Spring Township, police wrote in a Facebook post.

Weaver Hill Road is expected to be closed for an extended period of time, Spring Township police wrote in a Facebook post. It’s unclear when the crash occurred; police published their post about 4:20 p.m.

A handful of customers lost power, but it was restored by 9 p.m., according to West Penn Power.

As of 9:30 p.m., police hadn’t issued an update on when the road will reopen.

There were 37 crashes into a utility pole between 2012 and 2021 in Spring Township, state Department of Transportation data showed. That trailed only Potter Township (46) and Ferguson Township (39).
